4 tips to make your site easier to find
A good findability is essential for any webshop. You can improve your ranking in search engines by hiring an SEO firm but you can also do a lot yourself. In this article, four tips to help you to increase your findability for free.
1. Relevant content
Companies often spend a lot of money on the design of their website, but then give little attention to the web text.

Such a shame! Search engines base their rankings largely on words and phrases found on a website.
If you find it hard to write catchy texts, check out the content already available on your company. Leaflets, brochures and advertisements can be a source of inspiration. Do note the length of texts, web texts are preferably not too long, and the use of titles and headings.
In its search for relevant content, titles and headings are important anchors for Google. Choose an appropriate header that matches the content of the text, preferably with one or two words that are often searched for. Google cuts its search results also after 65 characters, so try to stay within this length. The subheadings are equally important. Not just because your text becomes more readable but also because Google considers the text between the h2 and h3 tags as important passages.
2. Away with pdf
Do not make the mistake of just putting your brochure under the scanner and link it as a PDF document to your website. Google does read this content but because of the lack of an internal linking structure, the text is seen as unimportant. The solution takes a few hours of your time but is worth it: rewrite and paste as plain text in one of your webpages.
3. Link Building
The more links to your site, the higher the ranking. By leaving posts on forums and sites with a link to your website, you increase your importance for Google. So, build an army of links.
4. Social media
Besides link building, Google has also embraced social media. Company names that often appear on Twitter rise in the rankings. Now you can of course wait until satisfied customers take the trouble to mention your name online but you can also take charge yourself. You can for example use the social media channels of your employees. It helps for example already when they place a link from the company website on their LinkedIn profile. And did you think about an own Facebook page? Not only useful to build relationships with customers, the page is also well indexed by Google's robots.
