DPD: 'Online shopper decides delivery time'
Package deliverer DPD offers a solution in Belgium and Luxembourg with which the online shopper can determine when the delivery of his order should take place. On the day of the delivery, the recipient receives an SMS or email in the morning.
In the first phase, the recipient will get a timeframe of up to six hours and in the second phase (2012) a timeframe

of two to three hours in which the shipment will be delivered, reports the website of De Lloyd.
Better day planning
By mentioning a more precise time of the delivery, DPD wants to allow the recipient to plan his or her day better.
Alternatives
If the online shopper can not receive the shipment at the time referred to, he can respond to the received SMS or e-mail and choose one of the offered alternatives. If a customer does not react and is not home at the specified time, the DPD courier will leave a message.
"Customers want to keep the overview about their products and also have the opportunity to change their order. E.g. by having the goods delivered to another address or on another day. Our services are therefore based on proactive communication with the receiver," explains Marc Hasler, CEO DPD Belux.
