E-shop Expo 2011 puts e-commerce in Belgium on the map
The fourth edition of the E-shop Expo was a great success. As many as 3,782 visitors attended the exhibition one or two days, again an increase compared to the previous edition. At the exhibition there was a positive buzz of promising start-ups, new ventures and professionalization. Take a look at the pictures for an impression.
International supply

On the exhibition floor, over
50 e-commerce suppliers from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Denmark presented themselves. The demand for knowledge was great and the booths were crowded. Belgian bpost had a scoop: they launched the 'package vending machine'. In the coming year, the company wants to install 150 to 200 'package vending machines in high-traffic locations. In September, a pilot project starts at the airport of Zaventem and the Brouckèreplein in Brussels. This is just one example of the many initiatives in the Belgian market to promote e-commerce. BeCommerce also has plenty of plans for the coming year, they will start among others with BeCommerce Academy in collaboration with Boston University to promote professionalism in the industry.
What do the professionals say about the E-shop Expo?
As organization we can not determine the success of an exhibition. This is determined by the visitors, exhibitors and partners. Underneath you can read the opinion of some industry professionals about the E-shop Expo 2011:
“E-shop Expo is the place to be for e-commerce professionals. So, definitely also for BeCommerce. I would like to thank everybody who supported BeCommerce by their visit, reactions and participation. We look forward to next edition!” says Marc Périn, managing director of BeCommerce
"The exhibition is an excellent opportunity for us to get direct contact with our target group. There should be more events like this" said Anthoon Schockaert, company lawyer Unizo.
“For the second consecutive year there was a specific FeWeb area at the E-shop Expo. Also thanks to 13 FeWeb members the area had a high visibility that has resulted in a large turnout of visitors with very specific questions. In addition, there was a great sense of solidarity and new cooperations have been started that can only professionalize the sector. At FeWeb we are already looking forward to the event in 2012!" said Marc Mestdagh, CEO FeWeb
"We are very enthusiastic about the E-shop Expo. We noticed that there was a great need for a well-integrated webshop. We have made interesting contacts and look forward to the follow-up appointments that have been made." said John Peters, Business Development Manager TIE Kinetix
“Tollos took part for the first time in the E-shop Expo and had the primary purpose of creating brand awareness. Thanks to the support of the organization of the exhibition, we not only succeeded in our primary goal - to create brand awareness - we could also count on very much interest by the visitors to the exhibition." said Eric Lauwers, CEO Tollos
